WELCOME TO THE WILD

Welcome to the Wild

“Welcome to the Wild” is more than just an initiative; it’s a heartfelt invitation to the next generation of conservationists to step outside, roll up their sleeves, and truly connect with the world around them. We believe that the future stewards of our planet are sitting in Montana’s classrooms today, and we’re dedicated to empowering them to explore, inquire, and actively participate in the conservation of Montana.

Like the mighty Ponderosa, this initiative begins with a small seed. Our pilot program will have MWF board, staff, and ambassadors introducing Montana native seeds into classrooms across the state on a monthly basis. With just a bit of water, some soil, and a willingness to get our hands a little messy, we’ll empower children to craft seed balls—an engaging, hands-on activity that ignites their curiosity and inspires them to connect with nature, right outside of their front door.

Your support can help fund this work and together we can sew the seeds of a brighter, more sustainable future—one where every individual embraces their role as a steward of Montana’s wildlife and habitat.

$250 – Covers the cost of all expenses for most single classroom visits

$75 – Covers the cost of seeds for a classroom or event

$20 – Covers the cost of one bag of clay and soil

Additionally, you can donate a Welcome to the Wild kit to a child in your life as an opportunity to get them involved and help fund this work. We have two options for these kits that can be delivered to a child in your life.

  • Paracord Bracelet Kit – Create your own paracord survival bracelet, complete with 10 ft of paracord, a snap that includes a whistle and compass, and instructions to complete with the help of a parent.  (This is recommended for kiddos ages 8 and up.)
  • Native Seed Ball Kit –  These kits come with everything you need to create a flower explosion in your own backyard. The kit includes soil, sand and Montana native seeds that are meant to grow easily, yield many, and feed native pollinators. This is a great family activity for people of all ages to get your hands muddy and watch the flowers grow.

Join us as we embark on this transformative journey, where each step taken outdoors is a step towards a world where nature is nurtured by future generations.
